5 ways to overcome anxiety - part 3
Anxiety and worrying are not just an issue during the day. We can often lie awake in bed with worries going round and round in our heads. This leads to poor sleep which can make us easy prey to more worrying and so the cycle continues.
The breathing exercise described in part one can be very helpful when we find we cannot switch off at night.
3. The "to do list".
Sometimes an overactive mind also throws up long "to do" lists for the next day and often find we cannot switch off for fear of forgetting.
Put a small notepad with a pen on your bedside table and if you find that you wake up and your mind is full of tasks for the next day, quickly write them down. You should be able to let things go in the knowledge that you will be able to address them the next day.
